Since then he has held nearly every position in the front office, including overseeing consumer products, communications, and sponsorships before being named team president in 2015. As one of the longest-tenured executives in the sport, Alpern has seen the team grow from 18 employees to nearly 600 and has worked with C-level executives for many of the world’s top brands, such as Toyota, FedEx, Mars, Stanley, the Coca-Cola Company, and Comcast. Dave and the team have been invited to the White House on multiple occasions after winning NASCAR championships in 2000, 2002, 2005, 2015, and 2019. Born in Frankfurt, Germany, as the son of a high-ranking CIA official, he returned to the States at age two and grew up just outside the nation’s capital in Northern Virginia. He attended Oakton High School (along with childhood friend J. D. Gibbs, the son of Hall of Fame Washington Redskins head coach Joe Gibbs) and earned a degree in communications from George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. His plans to pursue an MBA were put on hold in 1993 when he was offered an internship with Coach Gibbs, which led to a move to Charlotte, North Carolina, and a one-company career that is now in its fourth decade. Alpern is a regular university guest lecturer, particularly at the University of North Carolina Kenan-Flagler Business School for both their undergraduate and graduate business programs. Richard regularly ministers to Christian CEOs, church, and family leaders. Richard earned a B.A. in history from the University of Saskatchewan. She is a visiting professor at Georgetown University, and she also teaches at The Institute for World Politics and George Mason University. Additionally, she is a visiting scholar at the Bernard Center for Women, Politics, and Public Policy. Previously, she has taught at Charles University, Prague, and she has served as the Associate Director for the Program in Economics, Politics, and the Law at the James M. Buchanan Center at George Mason University. She is an editor of and contributing author to IFWE’s recently released book, For the Least of These: A Biblical Answer to Poverty. In her chapter, Dr. Rathbone Bradley examines income inequality from both an economic and biblical perspective and provides guidance to Christians on how to respond, particularly through our vocations. Dr. Rathbone Bradley’s other academic work has focused on the political economy of terrorism with specific emphasis on the industrial organization of al-Qaeda. Her research has been published in scholarly journals and edited volumes. She is currently working on a book that analyzes the political economy of al-Qaeda post 9/11. Based on her academic research she also worked as an economic analyst for the Central Intelligence Agency’s Office of Terrorism Analysis. It is during these years that that these important life lessons found themselves bred into the fabric of their lives. Anne attended a small Amish school until the 8th grade. Anne & Jonas Beiler's life went into a tailspin after the death of their 19-month-old daughter, who was run over by a farm tractor in 1975. Anne, in her mid-20s at the time, found herself depressed and eventually on the brink of suicide. Despite being a faithful churchgoer, she didn't feel she could share her pain with friends or family members. Anne and Jonas drifted apart. The couple didn't talk about the tragedy and its ramifications. Instead, they remained silent partners who simply lived together. Anne opted to stay with her husband for the sake of their other two surviving daughters. She sought counsel from her pastor, who used the vulnerability of a grieving mother to manipulate her into an affair which lasted six years. After repenting to her husband, Anne & Jonas sought counseling. The Beilers reconciled as God restored their marriage. God also revealed to the couple that many Christians around them also suffered with a great deal of silent despair. After studying at Dr. Richard Dobbins's EMERGE Ministries in Akron, Ohio, Jonas began providing lay counseling as a way to help such broken people. In order to make ends meet in those early years, Anne recollected her youthful baking days growing up on an Amish-Mennonite farm with seven siblings. Because Anne had asthma she didn't venture outside much, and thus became the cook and baker for the family. By age 12, Anne made up to 70 pies and cakes from scratch each week for sale at a nearby farmer's market. She didn't skimp on ingredients, and always carefully made sure the wares looked and tasted great. From that modest start, the Beilers have become one of the nation's leading entrepreneurs. The Beilers recently celebrated the grand opening of their family center in September, 2008. The Family Center of Gap is a 25,000 square foot facility in place to meet the needs of the community. I grew up in Jefferson City and was fascinated by the news that came out of the Capital—state agencies, courts, the governor’s office and the legislature. But because of its relatively small size, only the wire services covered these sources. The voices of the news-makers weren’t covered by radio or television. Lear says, So that was the impetus for starting the Missourinet, he continues, and it through its 70 affiliate radio stations, the network keeps all corners of Missouri connected; It’s truly the only state-wide media. He won an honor medal in Journalism from Missouri for his Missourinet; the award describing it as a strong, valuable, source of information for all Missourians. And the Missourinet continues to win accolades, including the prestigious Edward R. Murrow award for distinguished broadcast journalism. In those years the programs were distributed to the affiliate radio stations by 24-hour leased telephone circuits, Lear explains as to how he got involved in college sports: so I concocted a business deal with the University of Missouri to sub-lease my circuits to them on Saturday afternoons and that’s how I backed into this sports business. For competitive reasons, the company changed from a radio company to a marketing company in the mid-1980s. It now exclusively handles stadium and arena signage, game day activities with advertisers, game program printing and sales, corporate hospitality and—in many venues—food and beverage sales. Lear received a Masters degree in Broadcast Journalism from the University of Missouri in 1968 and an AB degree in 1966 from Central Methodist College in Fayette, Missouri. He joined Tyco International in 2002 to help transform the company’s public image and governance processes, following what Business Week called one of the most spectacular governance failures in history. In addition, Eric served for 17 years in a variety of senior finance roles for General Electric from 1979 to 1996, including roles as CFO - GE Plastics, America’s and CFO – GE Medical Systems, Asia. Also, he was Senior Vice President and CFO for General Instrument Corporation (GI) from 1997 to 2000, leading up to the sale of GI to Motorola. He served as a U.S. Navy officer from 1975 to 1979, aboard the USS Robison in the Western Pacific and with the Naval Audit Service in Washington, DC. First elected in 1980, he announced in December 2013 that he would leave the House of Representatives at the end of his 17th term to focus exclusively on human rights and religious freedom. In announcing his decision, Wolf said that as a follower of Jesus, he is called to work for justice and reconciliation, and to be an advocate for those who cannot speak for themselves. In Frank's honor, Congress overwhelmingly passed the Frank R. Wolf International Religious Freedom Act. In January 2015, Wolf was appointed the first-ever Wilson Chair in Religious Freedom at Baylor University. That same month he joined the 21st Century Wilberforce Initiative, a newly created religious freedom group, as Distinguished Senior Fellow. Wolf was born in 1939 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He received his B.A. degree from Penn State University in 1961 and his law degree from Georgetown University in 1965. He lives in Vienna, Virginia, with his wife, Carolyn. Following the formation of the International department in 1992 Daly was appointed as the international field director for Asia, Africa and Australia. In 1997, he was promoted to the role of Vice President of the International division. Daly shouldered more responsibilities in 2003 when he agreed to serve as Group Vice President where he directed the strategic path of the organization. In 2004 Daly was appointed as the Chief Operating Officer, and in February 2005 to the role of President and CEO. Daly is a graduate of California State University, San Bernardino, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration in 1984. During his senior year of study, he attended Waseda University in Tokyo. After graduating, Daly worked in the private sector for a FORTUNE 500 company. In 1997, Daly completed his MBA in International Business at Regis University, in Denver, Colorado. And in 2009 he received an honorary Doctor of Letters degree from Colorado Christian University, in Denver. In 2007, Daly authored his first book, Finding Home, a testament to God’s redeeming power during a difficult childhood, including losing his parents at a young age. Having spent time in the California foster care system as a child, Daly is a staunch advocate for children who find themselves in similar circumstances. He is the recipient of the 2008 World Children’s Center Humanitarian Award and the 2009 Children’s Hunger Fund Children’s Champion Award. Beckett was born and grew up in Elyria, Ohio, the oldest of three children. After attending public schools in Elyria, he graduated from M.I.T. in 1960 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics & Mechanical Engineering. Following graduation he worked as an engineer in the aerospace industry. He joined his father in a small family‐owned manufacturing business in 1963, becoming president in 1965 upon the death of his father. He is now chairman of the company, and has helped guide the business to worldwide leadership in the manufacture and sales of engineered components for residential and commercial heating. The company, with its affiliates, currently has sales exceeding $100 million, with more than 600 employees. Mr. Beckett has long been active in both church and community‐related activities. He helped found Intercessors For America, a national prayer organization, in 1973 and continues to serve on its board. He is a founding board member of the The King’s College in New York City, and serves on the board of Campus Crusade for Christ, International. His first book, Loving Monday: Succeeding in Business Without Selling Your Soul, was published in 1998 by InterVarsity Press. The book is Mr. Beckett’s account of how he has sought to practically integrate his faith and his work. It is currently available in eighteen languages. And, since 2007, John has served in a number of executive leadership roles at Wal-Mart, Inc. until his retirement in January 2015. Most recently, John served Walmart U.S. as the Executive Vice President, Sales Innovation where his team focused-on driving growth with disruptive product offerings and innovative solutions. During his tenure at Walmart, John served the company in leadership assignments both domestically and internationally. In Walmart U.S., John served as executive vice president of merchandise services – including replenishment, merchandise execution, small formats and supplier development. Hall is one of the leading advocates for hunger relief programs and improving international human rights conditions in the world. In February 2002, President George W. Bush asked him to serve as the United States Ambassador to the United Nations Agencies for Food and Agriculture. He was then confirmed by the U.S. Senate and sworn in by Secretary of State Colin Powell in September 2002. As the chief of the U.S. Mission to the U.N. Agencies in Rome – the World Food Program (WFP), the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) – Ambassador Tony Hall was responsible for “putting into action America’s commitment to alleviate hunger and build hope in the world.” Prior to entering the diplomatic corps, Mr. Hall of Dayton, Ohio, was a member of the U.S. House of Representatives. He represented the people of the Third District of Ohio for almost twenty-four years, their longest serving representative in history. He was the chairman of the House Select Committee on Hunger and the Democratic Caucus Task Force on Hunger. He founded and was one of two House members on the steering committee of the Congressional Friends of Human Rights Monitors. He was the author of legislation supporting food aid, child survival, basic education, primary health care, micro-enterprise, and development assistance programs in the world’s poorest countries. Ambassador Tony Hall is also founder and was chairman of the Congressional Hunger Center, a non-governmental organization dedicated to fighting hunger by developing leaders. Ambassador Hall was a founding member of the Select Committee on Hunger and served as its chairman from 1989 until it was abolished in 1993. Mr. Hall has been an outspoken advocate for fighting domestic and international hunger and he has initiated legislation enacted into law to fight hunger-related diseases in developing nations. He was the sponsor of a successful 1990 emergency measure to assist state Women, Infants and Children (WIC) programs and legislation to establish a clearinghouse to promote gleaning to provide poor people with food. Mr. Hall has worked to promote micro-enterprise to reduce joblessness. In response to the abolishment of the Hunger Committee, in April 1993, Mr. Hall fasted for 22 days in order to draw attention to the needs of hungry people in the United States and around the world. In Tony Hall's efforts to witness the plight of the poor and hungry first-hand, he has visited numerous poverty-stricken and war-torn regions of the world. Ambassador Hall has spent time in more than 100 countries – ranging from Afghanistan to Zimbabwe. He was the first Member of Congress to visit Ethiopia during the great famine of 1984-5. He has visited North Korea six times since 1995, and was one of the first Western officials to see the famine outside of the capital, Pyongyang. In 2000, he became the first Member of Congress to visit Iraq in order to investigate the humanitarian situation. During his second week on the job as Ambassador, he traveled to Zimbabwe and Malawi to see the food security crisis in southern Africa. Tony Hall has worked actively to improve human rights conditions around the world, especially in the Philippines, East Timor, Paraguay, South Korea, Romania, and the former Soviet Union. In 2000, he introduced legislation to stop importing "conflict diamonds" that are mined in regions of Sierra Leone, Angola and the Democratic Republic of Congo. In 1983 he founded the Congressional Friends of Human Rights Monitors. In 1999, he was a leader in Congress calling for the United States to pay its back dues to the United Nations. In 1997 and 2000, Mr. Hall introduced legislation calling on Congress to apologize for slavery. He has also worked at promoting reconciliation among diverse peoples through a number of private initiatives. Mr. Hall is married with two children. Mr. Hall graduated from Fairmont High School, Kettering, Ohio, in 1960. In 1964 he received his A.B. degree from Denison University, Granville, Ohio. At Denison, he was a Little All-American football tailback and was named the Ohio Conference's Most Valuable Player in 1963. During 1966 and 1967, Mr. Hall taught English in Thailand as a Peace Corps Volunteer. He returned to Dayton to work as a realtor and he was a small businessman for several years. Mr. Tony Hall served in the Ohio House of Representatives from 1969 to 1972, and in the Ohio Senate from 1973 to 1978. On November 7, 1978, Mr. Hall was elected to the 96th Congress. He served on the Foreign Affairs and Small Business Committees before being appointed to the Rules Committee at the beginning of the 97th Congress. Ambassador Hall was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for 1998, 1999 and 2001 for his humanitarian and hunger-related work. For his hunger legislation and for his proposal for a Humanitarian Summit in the Horn of Africa, Mr. Hall and the Hunger Committee received the 1992 Silver World Food Day Medal from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. Mr. Tony Hall is a recipient of the United States Committee for UNICEF 1995 Children's Legislative Advocate Award, U.S. AID Presidential End Hunger Award, 1992 Oxfam America Partners Award, Bread for the World Distinguished Service Against Hunger Award, and NCAA Silver Anniversary Award. He received honorary Doctor of Laws degrees from Asbury College, Antioch College and Eastern College and a Doctor of Humane Letters degree from Loyola College.
